Today my sister took me to try a new restaurant – The Mammoth Railway Cafe in Park City. It’s part of a bed and breakfast – the Grand Victorian Inn. I have never written a review of a restaurant before, or food, but as I know the owner of the cafe (He was one of my older brother’s best friends in high school and therefore treated me as an annoying little sister), I thought I should share its amazingness with the world!
The building itself is beautiful. It was built in the late 1800s and has been everything from an inn to a stagecoach to a house/residence to a boys school to a old folks home. It has a great history, and one I would like to learn more about. It had fallen into disrepair when it was bought and restored. My friend owns the restaurant half, and then there is the Bed and Breakfast. I got to see one of the rooms, as well as the basement which is going to be restored in the future. It’s pretty cool knowing the owner of something 🙂 Also, my obsession with history made this even more awesome.
Now… onto the food!
On the menu on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is currently more traditional food, such as appetizers, salads and sandwiches. On Thursday, Friday and Saturdays they have specials and on Sunday they do brunch. We were there on a Tuesday, so we had a sandwich. I had the Fried Green Tomato sandwich. It was blasted delicious. BLT on a whole new level. Also, we got cake! Bourbon and Cream cake which was also incredible. They are trying to use almost all locally grown foods. It is not over the top expensive, and well worth the money. The seating area is quite cute, and well done with the theme. Plus, you can see the whole Inn, which is a nice plus. I cannot wait to go back and try more food. Check out their facebook page!
Even better, there are all kinds of plans for the future. Across the street is a historical landmark, Bell’s Tavern, and a playground. So, fun for all. 🙂
